Bakal’s Battling RAK Ladies Open Performance

(Ras al-Khaimah, UAE) – Anastasia Bakal claimed a 5 shot victory in the 10th RAK Ladies Open carding a one under 71. The EGF Order of Merit qualifier saw a broad spectrum of age and experience as all competitors battled for the same thing, to be crowned RAK Ladies Champion.

LADIES OPEN ALL

Anastasia, the runner-up in last year’s event, went one better this year as she produced an extremely solid round consisting of nines of 35 and 36. Unusually she struggled on the par 5’s bogeying both the 3rd and 14th Holes but successfully bounced back with birdies shortly after. Alison Muirhead claimed the runners-up prize after a round of 76 in a much more turbulent round of golf. With nines of 39 and 37 Alison struggled to pick up any shots on the front nine after an unfortunate double bogey 6 on the second. She did however slightly rekindle some kind of score by birdying both the back nine’s par 3’s before dropping them both back again on the final 2 holes.

The net division was won by possibly the youngest person in the field, Jamie Roslyn Camero from Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club, who fired in a 2 under 70 to win by 3. Young Jamie started strongly with 3 consecutive net birdies before 6 net par’s for a 3 under par front nine of 33. She then dropped a few on the hard 10th & 11th before picking them back up on the final few holes. Taking the runners-up prize in the net division was Sakura Kawakami on a score of 73. Sakura’s game was up and down throughout carding 5 net birdies, 4 net bogies and a net double for her competition total.
