February 15th, 2017
Rayhan Thomas successfully defended his BMW AGMC 2017 AMATEUR OPEN Title following a two-man playoff on the 18th hole of the Earth course. With Chris Rahm and Rayhan both scoring 142 over the two days they headed back to the 18th tee box to battle it out to be crowned the Men’s Amateur Open Champion.
Rayhan hit the fairway and Chris was unlucky to find the water from the tee and having taken his drop laid up short of the green for 3, Rayhan who is certainly playing with plenty of confidence after a fantastic Dubai Desert Classic went for the green in two and could not have placed the ball any better to the middle of the green. After the approach of Chris the honor was still with him and he rolled a putt just past the hole, the scene was now set and after sizing up the put Rayhan walked the ball into the hole from over 40 feet across the green to retain his BMW AGMC 2017 AMATEUR OPEN with Chris Rahm taking second place.
