Emirates Mixed Amateur Open Sponsored by Infinity

(Dubai, UAE) – This year’s Emirates Mixed Amateur Open Sponsored by Infinity Powered by Al Dobowi was the 22nd edition and the first time the competition was contested over 36 holes in one day. An early morning start on the Faldo followed by a sunset finish on the Majlis course was the perfect setting for a closely contested finale. The champions Maria Petre and Filip Petre were the well deserved winners playing the most consistent golf of the day. The mother & son combination combing well to score back to back rounds of 70 for a 140 total to claim a memorable one shot victory.

Missing out on a potential play off by only one stroke were runners up Eric Koeman and Sandra Chia, they followed up a morning score of 70 with an afternoon score of 71 to total 141 for the competition. A further two shots adrift was the inform Maura Duggan and her partner Paul Byrne, holding second position after 18 holes with a net 69 over the tricky Faldo course but followed that up with a 74 to finish in third place. In fourth place were Charles Stricklin and Josie Tracey who opened with a 75 but responded with a fantastic net 69 in round two. The most improved score award over the two rounds was won by Carolyn Thompson and Rajinder Razdan who improved by seven strokes following an afternoon round of net 73.

There were three teams tied on a total of 156 for the best gross prize, the winners after a card count back were Darren Cole and Fran Cole who posted scores of 80 and 76.
